Wardell Piper is a Dance, Disco Funk, R&B music legend. She ranks among the greatest Dance, Disco Funk music artist of all time. An Albany NY native, Wardell started singing gospel music in churches at age five with her siblings. After moving to Philadelphia, she met Rochelle Fleming and Malanie McSears and formed the group, The Debonnetts in 1968. In 1970 Annette Guest joined them and they became "First Choice". First Choice, Rochelle, Malanie, Annette and Wardell signed to Philly Groove Records working with producers Norman Harris and Al Felder. Their 1st album included hits: "Armed and Extremely Dangerous", "One Step Away" and "This is the House Where Love Died". After early success with the group, Wardell would move on to start her solo career and signed with Midsong Records. Her 1st album entitled "Wardell Piper" gained worldwide acclaim with singles, "Captain Boogie" and "Super Sweet", both ranking high on the Billboard Charts. Her 2nd album produced by John Davis, included a remake of Ashford and Simpson's “Gimme Something Real” and the “Power of Love” which is still hot in Europe after releasing a remixed version. Wardell recorded for SAM and Prelude Records. She worked with producer Butch Ingram on her Spell project. Wardell's 2019 releases “Be Sure” and "Distant Star" written/produced by Keath Lowry were released on her self owned label, PiperGirl Records. Now the spotlight is on her latest dance/house music single release "Legendary".
