Biography

Jochewed Schwarz is an Israeli harpsichordist. A graduate of the Rubin Academy of Music at Tel Aviv University, she studied piano with Edith Kraus and harpsichord with Boris Berman. She also attended the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel, Switzerland, where she studied with Rolf Junghanns, Christiane Jaccottet, and Emer Buckley. She has also studied historical instrument construction and maintenance, working with Reinhard von Nagel in Paris. Schwarz performs on harpsichord, clavichord, and fortepiano, and she is active as a soloist and chamber musician, frequently participating in early music festivals and concert series. She has performed with Conrad Steinmann, Chiara Banchini, Katharina Arfken, and Sally Fortino, and she has recorded a two-harpsichord version of François Couperin's Les Nations with Emer Buckley on Toccata Classics.
