Art is not meant to fit in a box, and neither does producer and DJ GSix, who has formerly played as Qiao Zhi. Drawing from the entire spectrum of house and techno, his music has been described as “challenging and exploratory” and his DJ sets demonstrate a refined taste for outstanding dance music. With his breakout track, “Preacher”, released on the coveted label Minimal Sessions, GSix has solidified himself as a legitimate player in LA’s booming techno scene. As a DJ, he has played at some of Los Angeles’s favorite venues, such as Catch One and Los Globos, and has held residencies at Paper Tiger Bar, Broadway Bar, and Blue J Bar. He has had the pleasure of opening for some of house and techno’s most primising acts, such as Galestian, monstergetdown, and Stephen Disario. A Los Angeles mainstay, he has heavily contributed to the local scene by creating the event series Preacher Man, which showcases new talent and has allowed newer DJs a chance to break out. His desire to carve out a space for more introspective dance music led to the founding of Identity Presents, a party concept focused on progressive house and melodic techno, which has hosted Dave Seaman, Miyagi, Galestian, and Cid Inc among others.
