Finbar Furey was born in 1946 to a musical family in Dublin. He is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, storyteller and actor. He left Ireland in 1967 to tour with his brother Eddie, bringing Irish music, songs and stories all over the world. In 1976 Finbar and Eddie joined up with their younger brothers, Paul and George, and banjo player Davey Arthur recording and touring as The Fureys & The Fureys & Davey Arthur for the next twenty years. As a band they achieved international success with songs such as The Green Fields Of France The Lonesome Boatman and When You Were Sweet Sixteen In 1996 Finbar embarked on a solo career, exploring new pastures as a singer, songwriter, musician and producer. His album, Colours - Deluxe Edition Featuring 'The Last Great Love Song' reached the top of the Irish Charts in 2013. In 2018 BMG released the acclaimed Don't Stop This Now CD & live DVD from Vicar St. Dublin, followed by an Irish & UK Tour. 2020 saw the release of Blue Jewel in the Sky from Finbar’s forthcoming album ‘Moments In Time’ due for release 29 Sept 2023, to coincide with his 77th Birthday. Always at the forefront of musical change, Finbar’s successful career and extensive touring has attracted new audiences to his music and songs. Although Finbar has called time on live touring, he will continue to write and produce music in the coming years.
