After 16 years as the front woman for Delain, Charlotte Wessels started releasing music under her own name in 2020. Her new album The Obsession is out now! Wessels already made a mark with her earlier solo endeavors, Tales From Six Feet Under Vol I (2021) and II (2022). These pandemic compilations of songs written, recorded and produced in her basement home studio showcased her ability to blend musical styles and deeply personal lyrics. Upcoming album The Obsession will build on this foundation, offering an even more immersive and powerful musical experience. While still writing and producing the songs in her Six Feet Under studio and sharing their first incarnations on Patreon, now Wessels takes them to the next level with her fellow ex-DELAIN cohorts Timo Somers, Otto Schimmelpenninck van der Oije and Joey Marin de Boer as well as Sophia Vernikov, contributing to the new heavier sound. The album also features arrangements by Vikram Shankar, cello by Elianne Anemaat, was mixed by Guido Aalbers and mastered by Andy VanDette. Whether in her years with Delain, or with Phantasma’s ambitious The Deviant Hearts - whether co-writing the Qlimax anthem with Ran-D or Sirens with Epica, whether collaborating with Alissa White-Gluz, Aafke Romeijn, Zora Cock or guesting with the likes of Kamelot, Kissing Dynamite or The Dark Side Of The Moon - Wessels' work is characterized by lush arrangements, melancholic tones and deep-cutting lyrics.
