Jan Gunnar Hoff is a Norwegian jazz pianist and keyboardist, composer, arranger and professor. Born in Bodø, Northern Norway 1958. Steinway & Sons Artist. 20 albums, 250 works. Collaborations with Alex Acuña, Mike Stern, Pat Metheny, Maria João. Hoff´s debut CD Syklus was recorded in 1992, based on a commission for the Arts Festival of North Norway. Since 1993 Hoff has worked as a bandleader presenting original compositions in settings with musicans like Audun Kleive, Tore Brunborg, Mathias Eick, Per Jørgensen. Major band events include Hoff´s highly acclaimed Vossajazz-debut in 1995, Oris London Jazzfestival 1996 and Molde Int. Jazzfestival 1996 with EBU-broadcast. Another highlight is Hoff Groups´s successful collaboration with Pat Metheny at Molde Int. Jazzfestival in 2001. Hoff received the Edvard-prize as a composer from Tono in 2004 for his jazz mass Meditatus. He wrote Tingingsverket for Vossajazz 2005, feat. Maria João, Eivind Aarset, Mathias Eick a.o. Buddy award 2013, the highest distinction in Norwegian jazz. US Grammy nomination 2013, Hoff Ensemble Quiet Winter Night — an acoustic jazz project. Nominated for Spellemannpris, Norwegian Grammy 2014 - Fly North! with Arve Henriksen, Marilyn Mazur, Anders Jormin. Album releases in 2018: POLARITY — an acoustic jazz project.
