Paul Young first came to British music fans attention as lead singer of Streetband which then spawned 9-piece R&B band The Q-Tips. A solo deal with CBS Records followed in 1982 giving Paul his first UK No.1 single, Wherever I Lay My Hat in 1983 swiftly followed by Love of the Common People and Come Back & Stay, which reached no.4 in the UK, no.1 in Germany and was a US Billboard Top 30 hit. His debut album, No Parlez stayed at No.1 in the UK album charts for 115 weeks. The 2nd album The Secret of Association was another UK No.1 and Top 20 in the US Billboard chart sealing Paul’s success as an international artist. Paul finally reached No.1 in the Billboard singles chart with Daryl Hall’s Every Time You Go Away and this remains Paul’s biggest worldwide hit. Two more singles, I’m Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down and Everything Must Change, the latter co-written by Paul, were also international hits. Another US Top 10 single, a cover of The Chi-Lites Oh Girl came in 1990, and a duet with Italian singer Zucchero, Senza Una Donna (Without a Woman), was a huge international hit selling 5 million copies. Paul has also worked with other international artists such as Clannad, Vangelis and Matsayuki Suzuki. He appeared at some of the world’s largest concerts: Live Aid in 1985, the 1991 Nelson Mandela Tribute Concert and 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. Paul continues to record & perform, both as a solo artist and with his Americana/Tex-Mex project Los Pacaminos
