Biography

Arriving in London from Toronto in the early 70s, Canadian artist Philip Rambow found himself hitting the thriving pub rock circuit with The Winkies. Recruited to back Brian Eno on recordings and his solo tour, the band signed to Chrysalis Records. Rambow went on to work with Mick Ronson and Hans Zimmer before delivering two solo albums for EMI and racking up support from BBC Radio 1 and John Peel. A songwriter of some repute, he’s authored hits for Nick Gilder, Ellen Foley and co-write the classic “There’s A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears He’s Elvis” with Kirsty MacColl. His 2020 album ‘Canadiana’ was released to critical acclaim and was followed by a career-highlights collection ‘The Rebel Kind: Anthology 1972-2020’.
