Dominic M Wright is an award-winning composer, currently based in the north of England. His music is described as “beautiful” and “most haunting and effective” by Grammy award winning composer Christopher Tin (Civilization video game series). His work has been performed in various prestigious venues across Hull and East Yorkshire including Hull Minster and St Andrew’s church Kirk Ella as well as on BBC Radio Humberside. In September 2022 he will begin his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, one of the world’s most prestigious performing arts institutions. In 2015 while on a work placement trip to China he received a tick bite that went on to cause Post-Viral-Fatigue-Syndrome leading to many years of serious illness. Since his recovery in 2019 he has been working hard to begin to forge what he intends to be an exciting, dynamic, and trailblazing career as a composer. Recent successes include the world premiere of his piece for choir and orchestra ‘Waves of Song’, with words by renowned poet Ian McMillan, and ‘Coronavirus String Quartet’ which was funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign. He is Hull Choral Union’s first ever Composer in Residence which has resulted in several of works being publicly performed, including ‘Waves of Song’, ‘What Child is This?’ and ‘To Daffodils’. He has several disabilities including ADHD and Autism, which can be limiting, but often provide him with a unique and fresh perspective, ultimately enhancing his music.
