Biography

Arsenal originated in 1999 as a studio project of Hendrik Willemyns and John Roan and has since evolved into one of the biggest and most exciting Belgian bands. Whilst rooted in electronic dance music, Arsenal have incorporated numerous other genres, from African and Latin American rhythms to pop and indie rock and have been noted for their "ability to gracefully adopt different styles" (Dazed magazine) into each one of their albums. In 2003 Arsenal’s first album Oyebo Soul came out, including radio hits Mr. Doorman and Longee. They’ve released six studio albums to date. For each one they collaborated with a wide variety of international guest vocalists: Gabriel Rios, Aaron Perrino (The Sheila Divine), Baloji (Starflam), John Garcia (Kyuss), Shawn Smith (Brad, Pigeonhed), Mike Ladd, Grant Hart (Hüsker Dü), Johnny Whitney (The Blood Brothers), Lydmor, … to name but a few. For their latest album they went to Nigeria to create an exciting new brand of melancholy.
