Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Ivan Drever has played an important role in the evolution of Scotland's music for nearly three decades. The chief songwriter for Celtic rock band, Wolfstone, since the early-1990s, his tunes have also been recorded by traditional Irish folk band, the Dubliners. One of his tunes, written with Scottish fiddler Duncan Chisholm, was featured on the soundtrack of Robin Williams's 1997 film, Good Will Hunting. Drever and Chilshold recorded an album, Lewie Blue, as a duo, the following year. Hailing from the Scottish island of Sanday in Orkney, Drever grew up playing country music. A founding member of Krewe O'Deil, in 1974, he remained with the group until the late-80s, co-producing two of their albums -- Orkney Anthem in 1986, Viking's Bride in 1987 and October Bridge in 1988. Releasing a duo album, October Bridge, with Dick Clarke in 1988, and his debut solo album, Homeland, the following year, Drever moved to Easter Ross, in 1990, and joined Wolfstone. Although his guitar, cittern, whistle, mandola and pipes playing and songwriting have become essential to Wolfstone's sound, he's continued to pursue solo and collaborative projects. He recorded a pair of album, Every Breaking Heart and Back To Back, with Struan Eaglesham, in the early-90s, and solo albums, Isles Ne'er Forgotten, in 1991, Four Walls in 1996 and Black, White And Blue, in 2000. He toured the United States, in 2001, with California-based dance company, Celtic Fusion. Drever has been a semi-regular performer on Scottish radio, hosting a documentary about Scotland's islands for Radio2 in 1996, and additional appearances on Radio Scotland's Celtic Horizons and BBC Radio Orkney.
