Biography

amarcord, founded by former members of the St. Thomas Boys Choir in Leipzig/Germany, celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022. Raised in the tradition of this more than 800 years old choir and its former director, Johann Sebastian Bach, amarcord is now one of the world's most renowned vocal ensembles. With about 2500 concerts in more than 50 countries these five multi award-winning singers are bringing their passion for vocal music alive. Their outstanding musical ability, stupendous vocal technique, charming stage presence and marvelous sense of humor make the concerts of amarcord an emotionally unique experience. Being at home in all styles of classical vocal music, amarcord loves to go beyond boundaries in their programs which can be heard on more than 30 CDs and in lots of different collaborations with the Gewandhaus Orchestra, St. Thomas Boys Choir, lautten compagney berlin, Eric Schneider, Daniel Hope, the Klenke Quartet, Calmus and many others. As founders and hosts of the annual "A Cappella Festival" in their hometown of Leipzig, the five have established the festival into one of the leading of its kind, which also includes a competition and a showcase for young up-and-coming a cappella ensembles.
