Micachu and the Shapes (Marc Pell, Mica Levi, Raisa Khan) formed in 2008 mostly playing London venues such as The Macbeth in Hoxton and Brixton Windmill. They released 3 albums and a live collaborative album with London Sinfonietta on Rough Trade records between 2009 and 2015. During this time they toured extensively visiting Australia, mainland Europe and North America, and in support of bands including Animal Collective, Arcade Fire, Deerhunter and Spoon. They often wore shapes t-shirts with emboldened primary colour shapes influenced in part by 1960’s geometric abstract pattern design but also as a way to visually unify avoiding any particular trends and brands. Good Sad Happy Bad is the name of both the last album of Micachu and the Shapes and the name of a new band made out of all three original members with the addition of CJ Calderwood.
