Biography

Creation Rebel started as a studio project in 1978, recording the first ever Adrian Sherwood production Dub From Creation, engineered by Dennis Bovell and released on the Hitrun Label. Originally the backing group for the late reggae great Prince Far I, Creation Rebel worked with Sherwood from 1977-1982, recording further classic titles Starship Africa, Rebel Vibrations, Psychotic Jonkanoo, and Lows & Highs. After the release of Lows & Highs in 1982 the departure of lead vocalist and bassist Lizard, and the death of Prince Far I I in 1983, lead to the end of activities for the Band. The body of work produced by the band in a short period of time has had a lasting impact, described as some of the best and most important music to be made in England in the late '70s and early ‘80s.
