Biography

Linda McCartney was a bandmate and collaborator of husband Paul McCartney. She played keyboards and was a backing vocalist in Wings as well as Paul’s solo touring band – she was the co- writer of 5 chart topping hits; Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, My Love, Band on the Run, Listen to what the Man Said and Silly Love Songs as well as a string of top 10 hits and the Oscar nominated Bond theme Live and Let Die. She is credited as a co-writer and artist on the 1971 album RAM. 2019 saw the re-release of WIDE PRARIE, a posthumous compilation of Linda’s recordings originally released in 1998, dating back to the early 1970s.. A renowned and celebrated photographer, animal activist and food pioneer, the album is a touching reminder of Linda’s musical accomplishments too. Recorded in various locations including Sussex, Paris, Nashville and Jamaica, there are songs about animal rights tracks with Carla Lane, reggae productions with Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and the 1977 single Seaside Woman. In 1980 Seaside Woman, along with the illustrator Oscar Grillo, was turned into an animated short that went on to win the Cannes Festival prestigious Palme D’Or. The album also included cover versions of songs that held childhood memories such as Poison Ivy, Sugartime and Mr Sandman. There are also 80s and 90s solo recordings including The Light Comes From Within, her final recording co-written with and featuring Paul as well as her son James on guitar.
