Multi award-winning musician Nathan King is no stranger to the New Zealand music scene. He’s performed in everything from stadiums and arenas, to small town New Zealand pubs and friends’ garages. Inspired by his Dad’s 60s record collection, plus a bunch of 80s mix-tapes, King has been honing his craft as a songwriter since he was 12. After punching out a bunch of originals on an old acoustic guitar, he first got a taste for the stage in New Zealand's Rockquest. He’s been living and breathing music ever since. Nathan and his best mates from Cashmere High School formed Zed in 1996, writing and rehearsing in their basement garage. The band cut their teeth performing at local indie pub the Dux de Lux, and after four years of self-funded singles, signed to Universal Records in 2000. Zed’s two albums both hit #1 in the charts, spawning ten Top 20 hits, selling over five times platinum, and collecting three Tuis at the NZMAs, including Best Male Vocalist. Zed opened for Robbie Williams and Coldplay through Australasia and on the back of their New Zealand success, Zed scored a record deal in the US, signing to Jimmy Iovine’s Interscope Records. A whirlwind of tours and performances in the US, Europe and the UK followed, and saw them reach the Top 40 in Germany with ‘Hard To Find Her’ becoming a staple on radio in multiple European countries.
