Breezin' Through (Live Old Roslyn '77)

Rowan Brothers

Biography

Chris and Lorin Rowan (both guitar, vocals) began working together as a duo in San Francisco, California, USA, during the early 70s. They were helped by Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia who occasionally played with them live. Their CBS Records debut was a pleasant, if uninspired, collection. In 1975 the Rowans re-emerged as a trio with the addition of elder brother Peter Rowan (b. 4 July 1942, Boston, Massachusetts, USA), formerly of Earth Opera and Seatrain and a respected bluegrass musician. The Rowans was enhanced by his distinctive voice and skilled songwriting, as were their next few albums. Peter Rowan resumed his solo career 18 months later, after which his younger brothers were dropped by their record label. During the 80s, Lorin recorded several albums with a pop reggae unit called The Edge. The brothers reunited in 1993 to record Tree On A Hill (credited to Peter Rowan & The Rowan Brothers).
