Tender Loving Abuse

Biography

b. Richard Marc Dufay, 19 February 1952, Paris, France. Guitarist and songwriter Dufay initially earned his reputation playing on the New York, USA club circuit, collaborating with various bar bands as well as playing his own solo slots. Word-of-mouth praise of these performances eventually led to a contract with Polydor Records in 1980. Tender Loving Abuse was recorded live in the studio under the production tutelage of Jack Douglas. Well received in the press (particularly in musicians’ magazines), it served to embellish a growing reputation for Dufay’s guitar virtuosity. It led to him being recruited by Aerosmith later that year. He contributed to that band’s 1982 set, Rock In A Hard Place, but he left them in 1984 following Brad Whitford’s return. His projects since then have included the band Blue By Nature.
