Biography

In 1999, the two young, Danish bedroom producers and aspiring DJs Tomas Barfod and Kasper Bjørke founded the duo Filur, with the ambition to build a bridge between House and mainstream pop music. The following year, the debut album ‘Exciting Comfort’ was released, featuring the two lead singles ‘It’s Alright’ and ‘Shame’, which became club and radio hits across Europe and in Japan, where Filur toured extensively during the following years.
From 2002-2006, two more albums followed including the hit single "I Want You", which helped make Filur one of the most played Danish names abroad. The duo performed live at Roskilde Festival’s Arena Stage and DJed at clubs around the world. They won a P3 Guld Award for ‘Danish Pophit of the Year’, two Danish Music Awards including "Producer of the Year" and a total of eight Danish DJ Awards.
After 2006, they both turned their focus on individual projects; Tomas Barfod as part of the trio WhoMadeWho and Kasper Bjørke as a solo artist. Since then the duo has only been revived twice, for short periods of time. In 2009 to mark the 10 year anniversary of Filur with a "Best Of" double CD release, which also included two new songs "Rental Car" & "20 Lashes; and then in 2011 with the release of a fourth album ‘Faces’. After that Filur disbanded once again.
