Christopher Bono is a composer whose work spans Neoclassical, choral, post-rock, jazz, drone, and electronic music, influenced by Buddhist practices, yogic theory, shamanic teachings, and ancient philosophy. Drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 1999, an injury redirected Bono to music. He began learning guitar at 21, starting with the 2005 album Ten Senators and the Rebel Son. Transitioning to experimental composition, Bono initiated projects like Ghost Against Ghost, known for its ambitious multimedia shows and the album Still Love. At 27, Bono taught himself to read music and studied composition at Juilliard and La Scola Cantorum in Paris. Immersing himself in Stravinsky and Bach, he refined his sound. Invocations, released in 2012, combines minimalism with complex ensembles. Bardo, exploring Tibetan transitional states, began with a performance at Ann Hamilton Tower and expanded with the Prague FILMharmonic Orchestra. @NOUS involved improvised sessions with diverse musicians, resulting in eclectic albums. Bono formed @NousAlpha with @Garethjones, producing Without Falsehood and A Walk in the Woods, albums reflecting meditative practices. Collaborating with jazz legends @KarlBerger and @IngridSertso on Musica Poetica, Bono created a rich interplay of poetic jazz elements with his style. Bono’s exploration of new musical expressions makes him a pivotal figure in contemporary music, reflecting his engagement with spiritual and philosophical themes.
