Biography

Composer, arranger, music producer, mandolinist and guitarist, throughout his career he stood out as an innovator in the language of Rio's instrumental music. He was part of the groups Nó em Pingo d'Água and Pagode Jazz Sardinha’s Club, receiving awards and traveling internationally. His solo career began in 1997, when he released his first work, Solbambá, and continued with seven other albums recorded. He was nominated twice as a composer for the Itau Cultural award. On May 16, 2013, he received the Knight of the Order of Rio Branco from President Dilma Roussef for the importance of the CD Das Ilhas Mestiças in the cultural rapprochement between Brazil and Africa. He arranged for several artists, such as Ney Matogrosso, Guinga, Leila Pinheiro and Ivan Lins, and recorded with Chico Buarque, Sivuca, Paulinho da Viola, among others. In 2018 he produced and arranged the album Rueira de Marina Iris singing his songs with Manu da Cuíca. In 2019 he produced Sexteto Sucupira's first album. He has compositions recorded by Paulo Moura, Edu Neves, Zeca Pagodinho, Joyce and Dona Ivone Lara among other renowned Brazilian artists. His soundtracks were part of more than 12 films, shown on open Brazilian TV channels. On August 9th, together with Sexteto Sucupira, a group that stands out as an innovator in mixing Arabic music with Forró, he will release his composition El Suinguer.
