Biography

RJ's Latest Arrival an American R&B, Dance, and Soul Music band from Detroit, Michigan, United States, formed in the late 1978, with seventeen singles hit the Billboard’s R&B charts from 1981 to 1990. They had hits like Heaven in Your Arms, and Hold On, Off the Hook, all top ten scoring records on the Bill Board R&B charts. In 1984, they scored one of their first big hits with "Shackles," featured on their Harmony album. The group scored hit single in 1988 with” Heaven in Your Arms ", “Off the Hook (With Your Love)”, Hold On and “Rhythm Method” They scored other hits on the US Billboard R&B chart throughout the 1980s.[1] including production on The Barkays (Certified True, Many Mistakes) and Pet Shop Boy’s (I want a Dog). Rice went on to form, Barak Records in 1992, an independent hip-hop record label based in Detroit. The label's most notable act, Jay Dee a.k.a. J Dilla, Slum Village, and much of Detroit’s finest hip hop artists (Phat Kat / Guilty Simpson / Black Milk / Marv One etc.), were groomed and mentored through his label and recording studio RJ’s Rice Studios, where Aaliyah recorded her “One in a Million” album (although he wasn’t credited for it). Rice also wrote and produced the majority of the album Hello by singer-songwriter Poe, including the first single and biggest hit "Angry Johnny". Then went on to produce several of A&M’s artist, “Color Me Bad” “Kurupt”, “Ice Cube” remixes“ We be Clubin” featuring: Michael Jackson, Shaquille O’Neal.
