Biography

After beginning his professional music career in the early '80s as a member of the esteemed urban group Deele alongside L.A. Reid, Bobby G. Summers went on to a modest career as a producer/songwriter. His first big production opportunity came when Motown offered him the chance to work on General Kane's In Full Chill album in 1986, an album he co-wrote, produced, and performed on. Then, after contributing heavily to Andy Belling's Imagine That! and Caren Glasser's There's Nobody Else Like You in 1992, Summers began working with the Bar-Kays on their 48 Hours album, producing and co-writing several of the album's songs. In addition to his studio work, Summers toured with the Bar-Kays and both directed and performed with the Enterprise Orchestra featuring Al Green, a relationship that endured for more than ten years, culminating in a seven-minute megamix of Green's music for EMI in 1999. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
