Following his success with The Strokes in the early 2000s, Julian Casablancas embarked on a new musical journey in 2014, driven by the same desire to push boundaries that had defined his early career. This led to the formation of The Voidz, a band that embodies his vision of edgy, eclectic, and aggressive music designed for mainstream consumption while challenging conventional norms. The inception of The Voidz traces back to Julian's search for kindred spirits in music. During his solo live touring in 2010, he connected with Alex Carapetis (drums), Jeff Kite (keys), and Jake Bercovici (bass/keys). This core trio expanded with the addition of Beardo (guitar) and Amir Yagmai (guitar). The instant chemistry among these six musicians, both musically and personally, cemented the foundation of The Voidz. Over the course of their first two albums (2014’s “Tyranny” and 2018’s “Virtue”), The Voidz' adventurous genre-mixing garnered a dedicated underground following and critical acclaim. The Voidz' mutant-pop sensibilities have been further highlighted through collaborations with diverse artists like Daft Punk ("Infinity Repeating"), Mac DeMarco ("Did My Best"), and more. Their third album, "Like All Before You," was released in September 2024 , surprising audiences with its blend of grit and beauty. The album continues to build the intricate lore of The Voidz, inviting listeners further into their unique, otherworldly dimensions.
