Biography

Mirabeau wrote songs that achieved major success, like the marcha "Turma do Funil" (with Milton de Oliveira/Urgel de Castro), recorded by the Vocalistas Tropicais in 1954. Mostly a composer of music for Carnival, in which humor and animation are the main requisites, Mirabeau's hits frequently focus on the theme of alcohol. The marcha "Cachaça" (with Lúcio de Castro/Heber Lobato/Marinósio Filho), recorded by Carmen Costa and Colé in 1953, influenced the composition of many other marchinhas inspired by comic situations brought by the abuse of alcohol. "Tem Nego Bebo Aí" (with Airton Amorim, launched by Carmen Costa in 1955) is another example of this preference. Mirabeau had Carmen Costa as his most representative interpreter, Costa having recorded about 30 of his songs, but he also had success with songs recorded by other singers such as Ângela Maria, who in 1956 recorded his samba "Fala Mangueira" (with Milton de Oliveira). Mirabeau recorded only one album as an interpreter, Presidiário (1955). ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
