Sam Cohen is a musical artist and producer based in Accord, New York. Over the last 15 years, he’s released multiple albums under his own name and under the moniker Yellowbirds. In the early 2000s, Cohen was a founding member of the band Apollo Sunshine. As a producer, Cohen has worked regularly with Kevin Morby and Danger Mouse, and has dozens of albums to his credit. With his latest project, Slow Fawn, Cohen explores new collaborations (Cochemea, Stuart Bogie, Oliver Hill, Photay, Makaya McCraven) and broadens the instrumental scope of his work, creating music that is both ethereal and memorable. On these records, Cohen plays the drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and sings (though rarely); but more than any of these, he plays his Hudson Valley based studio as the primary instrument, a physical atmosphere that translates beautifully to an aural one within these new Slow Fawn Music recordings.
