Carbon Leaf’s fifteenth studio album, Time is the Playground, is both a call to action and an embrace of the moment. The Richmond, Virginia band marries nostalgic storytelling with nuanced, folk-infused indie rock, creating a 12-song reflection on time, love, and personal growth. Frontman Barry Privett describes the album as a cohesive, story-like experience. Originally formed as a college cover band in 1992, Carbon Leaf gained national recognition with "The Boxer," making them the first unsigned band to perform at the American Music Awards. Over the years, they have released multiple charting albums, won songwriting awards, and toured with major artists like Jason Moraz, John Mayer, and Dave Matthews Band. Returning to their indie roots, they now record at their own Two-Car Studio and manage their creative process independently. Time is the Playground is their first full-length album in a decade, featuring songs developed over 15 years alongside new compositions. The band, completed by Terry Clark, Carter Gravatt, Jon Markel, and Jesse Humphrey, spent a year and a half recording and mixing the album. The album's themes revolve around time, love, and personal growth, captured through heartfelt melodies and harmonies. Accompanying the album is an extensive tour and visual content development
