Biography

b. Brooklyn, New York, USA. Brooklyn-based Mercury Records recording artist Jemini made his mainstream debut with the Scars And Pain EP in 1995. Its title was taken from the artist’s own struggle to gain recognition and a recording contract: ‘I spent all of my formative years trying to get to where I am now. There were a whole lot of hard times, trials and tribulations. I made many sacrifices’. The EP, which was initially shipped on vinyl before emerging on CD, featured a variety of producers on its seven tracks, including Minesota, Prince Poetry (Organized Konfusion), Rah Boogie, Buckwild and Fatman. Prior to this release, there had been a single, ‘Funk Soul Sensation’, which married a booming reggae bassline with more traditional west coast sounds. It was backed by his home town pride anthem, ‘Brooklyn Kids’.
