One of the UK’s leading jazz pianists, Jason Rebello started playing classical piano aged nine, became interested in folk and soul, and aged 16, on hearing Herbie Hancock, switched to jazz. At 19, Rebello became the first jazz musician to study at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama and played as a sideman with a variety of top Americans including James Moody, Bud Shank, Art Blakey, Gary Burton, Branford Marsalis and Wayne Shorter, and top British jazz musicians including Tommy Smith, Cleveland Watkiss, Steve Williamson and Alec Dankworth. Rebello recorded sets for Novus, A Clearer View (1990) and Keeping Time (1993), releasing albums including Make It Real (1994), Last Dance (1995) and Next Time Round (1999), while leading both an acoustic trio and an electric band (à la Chick Corea) and developing a love of R&B and soul music. In the late '90s Rebello joined Sting’s live and recording group; from the mid-2000s he was a member of Jeff Beck’s band, appearing on and writing for Beck's 2010 Emotion & Commotion album. In 2103 he released “Anything but Look”; ‘Held‘ on Edition Records won best new album in the 2016 British Jazz Awards. In 2018 he recorded on Tim Garland’s Album ‘Weather Walker‘. Jason continues to teach, lecturing at The Guildhall School of Music and Bath Spa University. He also helped to set up the Jazz Factory at the Wiltshire Music Centre. http://jasonrebello.co.uk/site
