Biography

Snafu may be military jargon, but it is now also synonymous with bone rattling bass music. Hints of dubstep, drum and bass, and even underground hip-hop can be heard in his signature sound and he’s a force to be reckoned with behind the decks as well. Snafu played drums/piano growing up, but his exploration of electronic music began once he discovered Dieselboy. The organizers of a local DNB radio show eventually taught him to DJ, and even snuck him in as a stagehand to play shows while he was still only 18. However, the biggest St. Louis event series he would go on to play went by the name Therapy Sessions. In 2015, Snafu’s productions also began to garner serious attention. His original single “KILLA!” received a feature on EDM.com and in 2016 he released an EP via Reid Speed’s label, Play Me Records, titled “WTF” (ft. Lil Flip) and “Streetwise.” 2017 brought a single and an EP by way of Deorro’s Panda Funk Records. Although Snafu speculates that his sound used to be “too dubstep for the trap crowd and too trap for the dubstep crowd,” it now appears to be helping him carve out his own unique lane as an artist and the hip-hop sensibility evident in each arrangement only humanizes his music further.
