Janet Kay affectionately known as the ‘Queen of Lovers Rock’. An accomplished, acclaimed and multi-award winning international artist. Janet Kay best known for her stellar UK hit single “Silly Games”, which placed her in the Music Guinness Book of Records as the first Black British born Female Reggae artist to reach the top of the UK British Pop Charts in 1979. Janet has been voted by the British public in a poll published by the Evening Standard as one of the 100 Great Black Britons in history to date. Janet has been produced by legendary producers/artists, including the Late Great Alton Ellis, who was the first to record Janet in 1977, the Late Jackie Mitto alongside the Late Sugar Minott, Late Lloyd Charmers, Dennis Bovell, Omar and Aswad to name but a few. The 1990’s saw Janet Kay shot to international stardom in Japan with her re-recorded version of “Loving You”, first recorded in 1977, taking the No. 1 spot in the charts and all radio stations for many weeks. This led to Janet being signed by Sony Music Japan for a period of 12 years in which time she has released 6 albums including 3 Platinum and Gold selling. Janet has consistently toured Japan since the early 90’s. Janet has also had success as an actress, in theatre, television and radio, starring in the 1981 cult hit TV sitcom “No Problem” as the character ‘Angel’.
