Biography

The Jughead website states: "If you've ever wondered what it would be like if Motörhead hosted Hee Haw, you've got to see Jughead." This statement serves as an excellent description of the band. Formed in 1989 in Toronto, Jughead bill themselves as the "original motorgrass band," playing all-acoustic, traditional country and bluegrass music with a fondness for genre-bending covers, including songs by the likes of Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, the Ramones, Ozzy Osbourne and (of course) Motörhead. The Jughead lineup averages ten full-time members on instruments that range from the fiddle, accordion, and guitar to the washboard, spoons, and, of course, the jug. The band has garnered praise from Canadian country icon "Stompin'" Tom Connors and once shared the stage with bluegrass legend Bill Munroe. Uncorked, the band's independent debut, was released in 1993 and was followed in 1996 by the enhanced CD, Got'Em, Got'Em, Need'Em, Got'Em. Jughead returned in 2001 with Speedwobble. ~ Robert Kaups, Rovi
