The atmospheric folk-pop outfit Joker's Daughter’s first album was a collaboration between British-by-way-of Greek Cypriot singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Helena Costas and genre-bending hip-hop artist/producer Danger Mouse (Gnarls Barkley, Danger Doom, DM & Jemini). Helena, who began her musical career on violin, crafts elegant pop songs that draw on everything from mythology to food to late-'60s/early-'70s British folk -rock. Her correspondence with Danger Mouse began in 2003 with home-recorded demos, which he would then paint with his signature eclectic color and instrumentation. The debut album, Last Laugh, arrived in 2009, featuring brass from Neutral Milk Hotel's Scott Spillane and the string arrangements of Daniele Luppi. Later albums included recordings with Helena’s band The Bullfrogs. The new EP ‘Magical Negligence’ was all written, performed, recorded, and produced by Helena. Her new songs tell stories of the heart, storms, witches, and magic. For more info go to: www.jokersdaughter.co.uk To buy and listen go to www.jokersdaughter.bandcamp.com/music
