Kirszenbaum are an award-winning duo hailing from Kraków, Poland, combining a few unrelated musical worlds into one, dark postfolk slavic shoegaze soundscape. Drawing their inspiration from all sorts of literary figures, bands such as Junip or songwriters like Nick Cave or Jay Munly, Kirszenbaum is on a constant trip from Tove Jansson to Friedrich Nietzsche and beyond. Signed to Karrot Kommando, one of the largest independent labels in Poland, so far the duo released three albums and gave nearly 200 concerts, performing at festivals including Glastonbury, Pol'and'Rock or Fusion Festival, and touring Poland, Europe and Japan (karrot.pl/japan2023). Kirszenbaum's latest record, produced by Andrzej “Gienia” Markowski, one of Poland’s top trendsetters, blends the dark trance of Slavic folklore and haunting, intertextual lyrics, with tight, songlike forms of nearly pop-like musicality, inciting a melancholic dancing plague that deserves one label alone: “Rave macabre”.
