The original lineup was Matt Handley (vocals/guitar), Rayke Stapleton (bass), and Serge Luca (drums). Pollyanna's first EP, Fordgreensilverocket, was released in October 1994. The second EP, Junior, released in May 1995, reached #1 on the National Alternative Singles Chart and stayed in the Top 20 for forty one weeks. Lemonsuck was released in November 1995 and reached #1 on the National Alternative Singles Chart, staying in the Top 20 for seventeen weeks. The debut album, Long Player, was released in March 1996, peaking at #31 on the ARIA National Albums Chart, and #1 on the National Alternative Albums Chart. Lemonsuck and Pale Grey Eyes were voted onto the 1995 Triple J Hottest 100. Long Player received nominations for Best Debut Album and Best Alternative Release at the 1996 ARIA Music Awards. Pollyanna appeared at the 1996 Big Day Out, Homebake, Falls Festival, and Livid Festival. The second album Hello Halo was released in September 1997 and Cinnamon Lip was voted onto the 1998 Triple J Hottest 100. Album #3, Delta City Skies, was recorded in October 1998 at Ardent Studios, Memphis, Tennessee with producer Brian Paulson. The final album, Didn't Feel A Thing (2001), was recorded in the US, again with Brian Paulson, at Sound of Music Studios, Richmond, Virginia. Handley played most of the parts on the album, including drums, with Stapleton on bass guitar.
