“A solitary glass bead game of an album,” is how English composer Serafina Steer describes her 2o19 self released solo record, The Mind is a Trap. Like the classic novel by Herman Hesse, Steer’s music offers a kind of crystalline grace, richly allusive and strangely utopian. Steer is a founder member of BAS JAN in which she writes, plays keys bass and sings. Bas Jan is a 4 piece with Emma Smith, Charlie Stock and Rachel Horwood. She is also currently a member of Jarvis Cocker's group - JARV IS [Rough Trade] in which she plays electric harp, keys and sings alongside Jarvis Cocker, Adam Betts, Emma Smith, Andrew MacKinney and Jason Buckle.
