Monospace is the main alias of Freek Bes, under which he aims to release trance music sounding similar to classics from what many call the "golden era of trance", like the early releases of artists such as Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Alphazone and Vincent de Moor. Monospace was first started as a collaboration between Freek and his long-time friend The NGVirus. Their first original track, Exploration of the Phantom Streak was released on the 7th of October 2018. Attack of the Space Crusaders soon came after, followed by an extraordinary remix of the same track by Ioulianos a few weeks later. Late November 2019, Monospace released their first official artist album. From classic hard trance, all the way to synthwave-like sounds, Intrusive truly is a perfect fit in the library of the classic trance and dance music lover. Medio 2020, they announced on Twitter that Amaro (The NGVirus) would be leaving the project, thus the name Monospace became an alias of just Freek. The split was a mutual agreement though - they'd still be working together on new releases! It was just a name change - new (and old) tracks would be displayed as "Monospace & The NGVirus" from then on. In February of 2021, Monospace released the Space Shuttle EP, featuring tracks tributing to the original music of the Shuttle Run Test (Piepjestest). Liftoff became an instant hit, being played at many parties in The Netherlands and Belgium.
