The Hand

Three Is a Crowd

Berries From The Rubble

Biography

Erudite quotations and flashes of inspiration constitute ‘Three is a Crowd’. The album aims at rediscovering the futuristic songwriting of Glam Rock pioneers such as Bowie and T-Rex, Suicide’s electronic R’n’R, the acid post-punk atmospheres of Teardrop Explodes, the motorik maelstrom of Neu! and Kraftwerk, the Wall of Sound of Spacemen 3 and Jesus and Mary Chain, the harmonies of Stone Roses, Inspiral Carpets and Primal Scream and the electronic of Fad Gadget and New Order. The Hand was founded in Rome in 2014 by Emiliano Tortora (synthesizers, drum machines, programming and vocals), once a member of Mat 101, Fabrizio Mazzuccato (guitars and vocals), once a member of Black Circus Tarantula, and Sandro Di Canio (guitars, synthesizers, organ and vocals). After several live shows and a self-titled 7” on Rave Up Rec. in 2015, the band started recording its first album, which came out on the 17th of Nov. on Goodfellas Records, following two new singles/videos: ‘The Commissioner’ and ‘Holy War’. The Hand is definitely not your usual hyped indie-rock band. The three pals grew up on noisy psychedelia, obsessive rhythms, deafening guitars and analog synths. It took 18 months and several locations (a contemporary artist’s studio, Radio RAI’s Studios during a live performance, Green Mountain Audio, etc.) to record the album. The Hand opened Crocodiles’ Italian tour in 2015, backed bands such as Wire and Swervedriver, and was included in the line-up of Rome Psych Fest’s first edition.
