Subexotic Records are delighted to welcome John Sellekaers' long-standing experimental electronic project Xingu Hill. Sellekaers' Grigri Pavilion artfully evokes the distance of fiction and imagination to build a dreamscape, albeit a slightly uncomfortable one, drawn up within a backdrop of disturbing strangeness. « The album was mainly recorded during summer, in the French countryside, in scorching weather. The basis of the eight tracks was created in a few days, feverishly, in an atmosphere of intense enthusiasm. The tracks were then reworked in detail and completed in my studio in Brussels. The whole process was very clear and smooth from the start. » Sellekaers' fondness for the experimental electronic music of the British and Belgian underground scenes of the 90's, is reinterpreted via his ongoing fascination with the musical and technological evolution of the subsequent decades. This creates an intriguingly offset, hypnagogic sense of a parallel world, out of time, inviting the listener's mind to wander through the of byways & tunnels of Sellekaers' imagination.
