Biography

Boundary-pushing is just one way to describe this South-London-based artist, whose stylish vocals, innovative compositions, and soul-stirring lyrics redefine music. ANTIQU’E AMPOMAH, aka Butterfly Queen, is soaring from her latest projects, emerging a dynamic force in Alt Soul and Voetry. AMPOMAH seamlessly merges Soul, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Folk, and Melancholy Pop, creating a distinct sound that soothes the soul. Known for powerful, emotive vocals and deeply personal lyrics, she explores identity, resilience, and the expression of the human spirit. "Voetry" lies at the core, where spoken word intertwines with vocal expression and traditions of her blended Ghanaian heritage. Celebrated for her innovative sounds, expressive storytelling, and the integration of the spiritual act of creation in music. Her first project featured Dot Rotten and Joe Grind, AMPOMAH's voice can also be heard on Asap Rocky’s ‘Money Bags Freestyle’ and Dean Blunt’s ‘Baby Father - Snakeman Freestyle.’ AMPOMAH’s sound encapsulates the hypnotic vibes of Solange, the poetic fusion of Floetry, the experimental vibe of Björk, and the timeless emotion of Billie Holiday. Composition wise Mad Professor, ESKA and Timberland inspire her. She has worked with Blade Brown and Moelogo, featured as BBC artist of the week and in the South London Press, The Independent, York Press, The Voice Newspaper, ASBO Magazine, BBC Magazine and has graced the stages of City Hall, BFI, TATE Britain, ExCel London, and The Rose Theatre.
