Championing a live dub & bass sound system music movement in New York City since 1999. Pioneers of future sounds & performance styles with tomorrow's technology firmly rooted in the spiritual foundation of Jamaican music. Crossing generations. Travelling time. Touring worldwide. Lee "Scratch" Perry's go-to band for creating the Black Ark studio sound live on stage, on the road together since 2011. Spearheaded by producer, DJ, & musician Emch, founder of Dub Champions Festival. Core live squad includes Jamaican percussion legend & Black Ark studio veteran Larry McDonald on congas & Troy Shaka Simms of Brooklyn Gypsies on sax. Subatomic Sound System tours & records steady with Screechy Dan on vocals . In 2022 Mykal Rose of Black Uhuru began performing at festivals with Subatomic while working on the “Rockin’ Like a Champion” album out 7/26/24 also with Hollie Cook Tours in 2020 with Lee "Scratch" Perry celebrated the 45th anniversary of his Blackboard Jungle Dub album, the world’s first dub album live for the first time. This followed the success of their Super Ape Returns to Conquer album. Beyond the updated roots dub sound with Scratch, Subatomic carved out a new sound combining dancehall with hip hop and electronic music: 2009 NYC-2-Africa riddim versioned by vocalists around the world + remixes such as Dem Can't Stop We From Talk with Anthony B. Vampires & Informers release with Elephant Man, was an early meeting of dancehall and dubstep.
