Biography

Playing guitar, John Slaughter led his Blues Band from the early 90s when it appeared at the World Of Music And Dance R&B festival and toured Germany and the Netherlands, appearing at clubs and playing concerts. The band also appeared at European festivals, including the Montreux Jazz Festival. Drawing upon a pool of highly experienced British blues players, the line-up of the band has featured Paul Cox (vocals), Richard Simmons (keyboard), Jim Rodford (bass), Steve Dixon (drums), and Nick Payn, Andy Hamilton and Frank Mead (saxophones). Also involved with the band have been trombonist John Beecham, trumpeters Martin Drover and Noel Norris, bass player Al Maclow and guitarist Chris Newman. The latter also leads his own band in which Slaughter has played intermittently since 1964.
