Biography

Born in Alton, Illinois, raised in El Paso, Texas. With his brother Faris, Salim relocated to Denton, Texas, in 1988. The Nourallah Brothers debut was released by Western Vinyl in 2000. Nourallah's solo career started with Polaroid & A Way to Your Heart in 2004. He went on to sign to Hamburg's Tapete Records & release the critically acclaimed Beautiful Noise in 2005. Three solo acoustic tours of Germany ensued. Nourallah worked with producer Billy Harvey on his 4th, Constellation, which was released in 2009. In April 2012 Hit Parade, as well as a bonus E.P. called Friends for Life. Hit Parade garnered more favorable press like: "Nourallah has assembled the best album of his career..." Nourallah also formed a new band, the Travoltas. Skeleton Closet emerged in August 2015. Tours with Wreckless Eric, Adam Levy (the Honeydogs), Rhett Miller, Alex Dezen (the Damnwells) & Billy Harvey made 2015 Nourallah's most active year as a performer. He also released the 6-song Terlingua E.P. 2017 saw A Break in the Battle, a collection of 15 cover songs. Some of Nourallah’s favorite artists were the focus: Neil Finn, the Go-Betweens, Prefab Sprout, the Replacements, Comsat Angels & Diesel Park West were included. 2018 brought the double LP, Somewhere South of Sane. More praise from the critics ensued. 2023’s A Nuclear Winter introduced Marty Willson-Piper (the Church) as co-producer and band member. Tours with Willson-Piper and Rhett Miller made it another banner year.
