Biography

Bobby Previte began his career at the Niagara Falls Talent Show, belting out Elvis’ “Hound Dog” in an over-sized suit. Thinking music might be a good way to meet girls, he fashioned a drum set from a rusted garbage can, plastic trash bins, aluminum pie plates nailed on plungers, and a foot pedal from a rubber ball on a coat hanger, started a band, but was fired from their first gig for not having ‘real’ drums. Seeking revenge, he became a paperboy and bought the Rogers kit he still uses today. One bright 70s afternoon in the East Village, he peered inside a limo stuck in traffic and found himself face to face with Jimi Hendrix. Thinking fast, he unfurled the poster of Jimi he had bought just minutes earlier, then looked on in astonishment as Hendrix smiled and flashed him the peace sign. All the rest, as they say, is noise. Some Noise:— Selected collaborators: master composer John Adams, Terry Adams of NRBQ, country music star Jessi Colter, blues greats Johnny Copeland & Albert Collins, hybrid guitar master Charlie Hunter, Lounge Lizards leader John Lurie, Wilco genius Nels Cline, folk hero Victoria Williams, the one-and-only Tom Waits, and, most recently, rock icon Iggy Pop PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/bobbyprevite BANDCAMP: https://bobbyprevite.bandcamp.com “His ensembles speak in visionary tongues.” New Yorker “A serious composer with the heart of a roadhouse rocker.” Village Voice “He can break your heart with one cymbal crash.” Jazziz
