Biography

Singer/songwriter Shane Nicholson first gained public attention as the lead singer/guitarist for rock band Pretty Violet Stain. Interested in music from a young age, Nicholson formed the band while in high school & eventually they released debut album Parachutes & Gravity in 2000. Ultimately, Nicholson parted ways with the band & released his debut solo album It's A Movie in 2003 which ft. a duet with Kasey Chambers, whom Nicholson eventually married. His sophomore effort, Faith & Science, followed in 2006. Two years later, Nicholson paired with Chambers for the album Rattlin' Bones. Also in 2008, he released third solo album, Familiar Ghosts. In 2011, Nicholson returned with Bad Machines album which earned him an ARIA & 6 CMAA Nominations. In 2012, Nicholson & Chambers released their second album as a duo with Wreck & Ruin (Deluxe Version) ft. single Adam and Eve. 2014 saw Nicholson release concert LP, Pitch, Roll & Yaw (Live And Solo). The following June, he dropped single & ninth studio album Hell Breaks Loose which dealt with the fallout from his 2014 divorce from Chambers. The record brought home an ARIA & CMAA Award. Nicholson's tenth studio LP, Love And Blood, came in August 2017 & earned him another CMAA award. Nicholson appeared as a music producer in ABC TV production The Recording Studio in April 2019. The music from the series won a 2019 ARIA Award. After spending 2020 producing for other artists, Shane will release his new album ‘Living In Colour’ in August 2021.
