Biography

Giuseppe Galante was born on November 14,1964 to Italian immigrant parents. His father, Rosario Galante, was a clarinetist in the Italian Army. His father's musical background sparked Giuseppe's interest in music. He began playing trumpet in the seventh grade and learned to play the instrument quickly. Demonstrating highly improved performance skills within a year, Giuseppe won the most improved instrumentalist award, which included an album by French trumpeter Maurice Andre. Having listened to that album and so many other recordings of Maurice Andre, Giuseppe attributes all of his inspiration and influence to the French trumpeter. He considers Maurice Andre to be the greatest trumpeter of all time. At the age of 16 Giuseppe Galante was appointed as Principal Trumpet of the Buffalo Youth Orchestra under the direction of John Landis. Giuseppe Galante is a graduate of the Crane School of Music where he received two certificates of award: The Performer's Certificate in Trumpet for Superior Performance and The Certificate of Merit for Superior Contributions. Giuseppe Galante was a winner of the Crane School of Music Concerto Competition, where he was selected to perform Tomaso Albinoni's Concerto in D minor with the Crane Symphony conducted by Richard Stephan. In addition, he received the honor of performing the first movement of Giuseppe Tartini's Trumpet Concerto both in concert and on tour with the Crane Wind Ensemble under the direction of Anthony Maiello.
