Biography

Paul Taylor & James Mountford formed Kerosene (ex-Collision) in Manchester c1989. Growing to a 5-piece with Mr Hancox (bass) Chris Walton (guitar) & Gus (drums) signing to Sire Records. Early releases include the Collision EP, Worthless EP, Everybody’s Icon EP, My Friends EP & the Arrhythmia LP. The last of these releases in 1994 was the Shame EP (only on vinyl at live gigs). After the departure of Gus on drums & the arrival of Chris Willcocks the band worked over 3 sessions writing songs for the 2nd LP - during this time the band fragmented & ceased to work together. In 2018 that line up reconnected & with advancements in tech re-worked archive material from those sessions with radical edits, remastering, new instruments & vocals to finally allow them see the light of day. The first 6 songs were released on the Concussion - EP. In 2019 they released the main body of the archive as the album 'Broken' - and in May a final installment was made with the (Snatching Defeat From The Jaws Of) Victory, wrapping up 25 years of inactivity with 25 archive tunes! Also in 2019 brand new material surfaced with 'Social Butterfly (Brexit Song)', a swipe at the disastrous UK political situation, ahead of an acclaimed 12-track album, Circadian released in September 2019. Kerosene continue to write and release new material, with their fourth studio album Designed By Robots : Destroyed By Man released July 2020 ahead of the fifth album “Extremities : Music From The Motion Picture”
