The Ventures are an American instrumental rock band formed in 1958 in Tacoma, Washington, by Don Wilson and Bob Bogle. Known for their surf rock style, the band achieved international fame in the 1960s with hits like "Walk, Don't Run" and "Hawaii Five-O." The Ventures are renowned for their innovative guitar work and distinctive sound, which influenced many rock musicians. They released dozens of thematic albums in the 1960s and '70s, as well as scoring hit singles such as "Walk Don't Run," "Hawaii Five-O,” and “Perfidia.” The group gained a sizable following outside their native United States, especially in Japan, where they toured often and recorded albums strictly for that market, selling over 40 million records with 75 albums. The most popular and influential rock instrumental band of their day, The Ventures pioneered a sound that anticipated surf music with their emphasis on clean guitar twang and a precise rhythm section that added a punchy kick to their melodies.
