In addition to Claire Lynch’s long string of hit Bluegrass albums from 1981-2016, she and her band released their landmark “Holiday!” project in 2014 (featured here.) The recording was a USA Today “Season pick” and described as “a charmer” they “couldn’t help but love”. It includes their unusual take on some old chestnuts, a couple originals (Claire Lynch/Steven Sheehan's "Heaven's Light" and Henry Hipkens' "Snow Day") and even a rendition of "In the Window", a traditional Chanukah song. Forming the rest of the Claire Lynch Band at the time of this recording were Mark Schatz on bass and banjo, Bryan McDowell on mandolin, guitar and fiddle and Matt Wingate on guitar and mandolin – all acclaimed musicians in their own right, and all perfectly attuned to Claire’s signature blend of strength, delicacy, melancholy and gentle good humor.
