January 19, 2024 is the release date of the Long Ryders classic 1984 album, Native Sons, as a three CD box set. The first CD is the remastered album with the 10-5-60 EP and some outtakes, the second CD contains 20 unheard demos and the final wild CD is a scorching live show from London in March 1985 which got the band the cover of the New Musical Express two weeks later. 2023 saw both a live EP by the Long Ryders, one which completely captured their onstage power, and the release of the Long Ryders newest album, September November, which garnered the band the best reviews of their notable career. As usual the great Ed Stasium produced. The band's previous album was Psychedelic Country Soul. It hit NUMBER ONE on both the official UK Americana/Alt-Country charts and Amazon UK's Americana chart. Both September November and Psychedelic Country Soul herald a new era for the Long Ryders. As part of the L.A. Paisley Underground movement of the '80s, the band used the sounds of the '60s but the Long Ryders were influenced by the roots-centric approach of the the Flying Burrito Brothers and Buffalo Springfield, crossing their sound with the Clash and the Ramones. The Long Ryders are currently a key part of the Country Music Hall of Fame's "Western Edge" exhibit in Nashville. A panel shown here is from this very exhibit. Cherry Red has released 3 Long Ryders box sets, Final Wild Songs (a fine band career overview) and State Of Our Union and Two-Fisted Tales.
